Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our growing Pharmacy team!
Shift Details: Full time, 1.0. Variable shifts.
GED or High School diploma from an accredited educational institution required.
Basic keyboarding and data entry experience required.
Completion of a state approved Pharmacy Technician training course required.
Current WA State Pharmacy Technician Licensure required.
Additional courses taken in chemistry and mathematics are preferred.
Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting performing technician work functions is preferred.
National certification preferred.
Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills preferred.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
As a Purchasing Pharmacy Technician you will performs technical medication dispensing functions in compliance with written policies and procedures; performs a variety of clerical and mechanical medication support duties including the servicing of automated dispensing cabinets, repackaging medications, label preparation activities, information system data entry assignments, stock maintenance functions, maintenance of computerized logs and records, and medication delivery to patient care units; performs other routine departmental support activities approved by the Pharmacy Director. Under a pharmacist’s supervision, a pharmacy technician is licensed to enter prescription orders into hospital information systems and select medications for filling prescription orders as permitted under Washington State administrative code. A Pharmacy Technician may also compound sterile medication admixtures after meeting approved experience and training requirements. These qualification standards are specified in the Pharmacy Department Training and Orientation policy and procedure.
After completing Board approved training, compounds intravenous additive solutions including chemotherapy medications aseptically utilizing laminar flow hoods or a biologic safety cabinet. (All completed sterile admixtures must be inspected by a pharmacist).
Maintains the laminar flow hoods and the working area in an aseptically clean condition.
Fills medication orders under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.
Performs extemporaneous drug repackaging, and batch compounding activities under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
Performs non-clinical inpatient medication data entry functions in the pharmacy information system (as applicable).
Performs non-clinical outpatient data entry functions in the pharmacy information system (as applicable). (All prescription orders are clinically verified by a Pharmacist).
Delivers medications to the nursing units every hour Performs medication room checks and returns discontinued / outdated medications to the pharmacy.
Maintains or assists in maintaining a variety of documents, records and logs.
