Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Lab Assistant (Temporary) to join our growing Clinical Lab team located in Richland, Washington!
Shift Details: Full time, 1.0. Day shifts.
GED or High School Diploma from an accredited educational institution required.
Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Licensure required for 1st shift Clinical Assistants.
Completion of a structured or accredited Clinical Assistant training program preferred.
Two years phlebotomist experience preferred.
One year waived testing experience preferred.
Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Licensure preferred for 2nd and 3rd shift Clinical Assistants.
Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills preferred.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
As a Clinical Lab Assistant you will perform perform and report waived and moderately complex laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology and microbiology; Process specimens for clinical analysis, phlebotomy; Assist the technologists; React to change productivity; and handle other tasks as assigned.
Checks specimen integrity.
Programs and loads specimens on automatic instrumentation, reports results in LIS via autoverify.
Prepares reagents and controls.
Programs and loads reagents onto automatic instrumentation.
Answers phone, responds as needed.
Per request, reprints reports to floors or physician.
Takes inventory, orders and stocks supplies if necessary.
Due to the presence of out-patients, 1st shift Clinical Laboratory Assistants (CLA) may be asked to assist in phlebotomy on patients of all ages. 1st shift CLAs will be required to have a current MA-Phlebotomist Licensure issued by the State of Washington.
2nd and 3rd shift CLAs will not be required to have a current MA-Phlebotomist Licensure to perform phlebotomy and will only be asked if active licensure is held.
Any CLA covering shifts off their regular shift will only be asked to perform phlebotomy if active licensure is held (as applicable).
Receives and processes patient specimens, prepares for transport.
Prioritizes work to process STAT and routine specimens in a way to meet the expected turn around times.
