Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Fitness Specialist to join our growing Rehab team located in Richland, Washington!

Shift Details : Part time, 0.6, Days


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher, in a health related field from an accredited educational institution.

  • 1 year of healthcare, fitness or nutrition experience.

  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current American Heart Association ACLS preferred.

  • Athletic Training Certification preferred.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Physical Therapy, the Fitness Specialist assists with the coordination and participation of exercise wellness programs; supports ongoing departmental activities; and performs related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrates and sustains compliance with the Caregiver Expectations and Code of Conduct.

  • Assists in assessing patient's entry into the program by developing individual exercise programs based on medical history and six minute walk/mile test.

  • Promotes teamwork, with an emphasis on timely and understandable communication of patient care information to the patient and between care providers across the continuum of care.

  • Provides and documents direct patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes and reports changes to appropriate personnel.

  • Provides accurate and timely administration and documentation.

  • Collaborates with healthcare team and coordinates discharge planning.

  • Communicates accurately and effectively with patients, families, staff and physicians.

  • Promotes effective working relationships in a team atmosphere.

  • Demonstrates skills that are required for specialty clinical practice and regulatory requirements annually.

  • Provides age appropriate care.

  • Adheres to policies as outlined in departmental related to infection control, fire and safety, hazardous chemicals and personnel policies.

  • Participates in unit and hospital-wide performance improvement activities in order to improve patient care and comply with regulatory groups.

  • Pursues professional growth and development through active participation in educational opportunities.

  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with customers and co-workers.

  • Fosters a culture of safety.

  • Supervises and performs exercises with patients including teaching of proper technique, advising of contraindications and general injury prevention.

  • Monitors patient's response to exercise; reports any inappropriate responses to Therapists/Doctors.

  • Documents daily assessment in collaboration with other team members.

  • Explains the home exercise prescription to clients based on their fitness level.

  • Teaches educational exercise and fitness classes to therapy services clients and their families.

  • Assists with emergency care according to standing orders.

  • Maintains department inventory; department billing, picks up supplies when necessary.

  • Assists with scheduling patients.

  • Assists with cleaning of exercise equipment.

  • Sets weekly exercise and lifestyle change goals for patients.
