Kadlec Insurance Collector - Kadlec Clinic Billing in Richland, Washington

Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for an Insurance Collector to join our growing Clinic Billing team located in Richland, Washington.

Shift Details: 1.0 FTE, Full time, 8 Hour Days. Potential for telecommuting.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • GED or High School Diploma

  • 3 years experience in a health care setting with a background in all areas of Account Receivables

Preferred Qualification:

  • Emphasis given to accounting practices, insurance billing and compliance experience.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Under the general direction of the Kadlec Clinic Business Office Manager coordinates the facilities insurance collections and denials management process to ensure the hospital receives appropriate reimbursement for services provided. Identifies and analyzes payer trends and denial patterns. Prepares insurance appeals to ensure the hospital receives appropriate reimbursement for services provided.

  • Update and revise patient demographic and financial information maintaining current and accurate account information.

  • Review and analyze assigned account balances and initiate appropriate follow-up action with insurance companies to expedite the payment process.

  • Research insurance accounts pending third party reimbursement and contacts the insurance companies prior to contacting the patient or initiating an insurance re-bill request.

  • Review third party remittance voucher denials, determine response needed from selected payers for denials, disallowed or non-covered charges and acts in accordance to the denial code action form, providing the necessary support documents for all account adjustments.

  • Research insurance denials. Coordinate appeal process, including gathering information required by payer, preparing appeal and petitioning payer for reconsideration of reimbursement.

  • Understand Labor and Industries billing process and paperwork/documentation requirements and ensures Labor and Industries documentation is completed and submitted accurately and timely.

  • Review insurance vouchers, identify non-covered charges and prepare account specific adjustments.

  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and can work well within a team and on own.

  • Submit adjustment requests to management after thorough review.

  • Analyze reimbursement denials and keep appropriate parties informed of threatening reimbursement risks as immediately identified.

  • Communicate denial information to clinic departments and prepare and facilitate educational sessions based on needs identified from denial data.

  • Apply analytical thinking and problem solving techniques to the denials management process.

  • Remain current in all payer contracts, understand third party payer contract language and consistently monitor insurance payments for appropriate reimbursement.

  • Review credit balances on aging accounts and identify outstanding balances prior to initiating refunds to patients or insurance companies. Print refund request, summary bill, supporting documentation and forwards to the Billing Manager for approval.

  • Maintain good-working relationships with internal and external parties at all times and ensures payer representative contact information is current.
