Kadlec Obstetric Technician in Richland, Washington
Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Obstetric Technologist to join our growing Birth Center team located in Richland, Washington!
Shift Details: Full time, 0.9. 12 hour variable shifts. (Primarily nights, 6:00p-6:30a.)
GED or High School Diploma from an accredited educational institution required.
Current registration as a Surgical Technologist (ST) in Washington State as per RCW 18.215 required.
Current WA State Medical Assistant-Registered Licensure within 60 days from date of hire into the position required, unless holds a current WA Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy Licensure.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.
Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program, or formal training in military preferred.
Surgical Technician, Obstetric Technician or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) experience preferred.
Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills preferred.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
As a Obstetric Technologist you will assist in preparation and care of pregnant surgical patients requiring cesarean section and related procedures in the Operating Room. This position will perform a variety of technical tasks related to the function of the Birth Center and assist in patient care as assigned. Also they will perform quality infant hearing screening as needed and performs routine and delegated duties according to departmental policies and perform a variety of other related clerical and receptionist duties to assist in the flow of patients.
Receives and greets patients, visitors and hospital personnel with excellent customer service while exhibiting tact, courtesy, and respect.
Consistently maintains a customer service focus when providing patient care.
Sets up the C-section room following established department procedures.
Using sterile technique, obtains and arranges on instrument table all surgical instruments and supplies that are required for the surgery.
Assists in positioning the patient when needed, drapes patient; maintains sterile field during the procedure and speaks up as necessary.
Adheres to department policies and procedures related to aseptic technique and sterile techniques; complies with Universal Precautions and AORN standards for operating room attire.
Assists obstetrician and other team members during the procedure by passing instruments, sponges, sutures and other needed equipment as requested. Handles instruments/equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations and department policies.
