Medical Assistant Training Programs
Our Medical Assistant Training Programs offer unique opportunities to build excellent clinical skills in a real-world work environment. Participants receive opportunities in a variety of primary and specialty care areas.

Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) Training Program:
Our MA-R Training Program allows students enrolled in a Medical Assistant Certified program to gain on-the-job experience by working 1-2 shifts a week in a Kadlec Clinic. Students selected for the program receive an offer of employment at a Kadlec Clinic as a Medical Assistant Registered. Students receive a sign-on bonus of $3,000.
Eligibility:
- Must be currently enrolled in active good standing in a Medical Assistant school (typically Charter or CBC)
- Hold a GED or High School Diploma from an accredited educational institution
- Successful completion of two medical assistant program classes /courses /modules
- Hold an overall minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Be able to attend the entire new hire orientation, Epic training, and clinical orientation (one full week)
Ongoing:
To remain eligible in the program, students must meet the above criteria in addition to the following on a monthly basis:
- Work a minimum of 8 hours per week (16 hours per pay period), with a maximum of 20 hours per week (40 hours per pay period) for Kadlec Clinic as a medical assistant registered
- Meet/exceed the core values of Kadlec Clinic’s Guiding Principles
- Maintain an overall minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Stepful MA-R to MA-C Pathway Program:
This program allows caregivers to work in a Kadlec Clinic as Medical Assistant Trainees while attending school to earn their Washington State Medical Assistant Certification. The Stepful MA-R to MA-C Pathway Program includes a minimum of 720 hours of on-the-job training, combined with a 17-week online didactic course delivered in partnership with Stepful. Tuition is covered by Providence, the parent organization of Kadlec.
Program details:
- Partners with Stepful, a federally accredited program.
- Meets the minimum requirements for students to sit for the NHA exam.
- Trains students in the specific skills required to achieve the MA-C credential, as outlined in RCW Chapter 18.360 and WAC 246-827 through the WA Department of Health.
- Covers the cost of the first attempt at the NHA exam.
Trainee expectations:
- Complete a minimum of 720 hours of paid on-the-job training, supported by a dedicated one-on-one Medical Assistant (MA) coach.
- Complete 17 weeks of unpaid online coursework through Stepful, covering essential didactic content.
- Attend in-person bring back courses led by our Ambulatory Clinical Education team to practice and demonstrate mastery of hands-on technical skills.
- Log and report on-the-job hours and skill practices as required for program completion.
- Sign the Education Loan Program agreement for program students prior to enrollment.
Our Medical Assistant Training Programs are reevaluated periodically for continued assistance.
